1934 β 2025
Written by Eleanor herself, three years before she passed.
βI never wanted to be remembered for what I owned β only for how hard I laughed and how freely I loved.β
Eleanor wrote this herself, three years before she passed.
Eleanor Voss spent her life in quiet, extraordinary service. A teacher for twenty-two years. A mother of three. A keeper of letters and a grower of peonies. She believed that patience was a form of love, and she proved it every day.
She was born in 1934 in a small house in rural Ohio, the youngest of four. She moved to New Jersey in 1958 with a husband, a suitcase, and what she described as βan unreasonable amount of optimism.β She was right about most things.
Mom, I read this every morning. You had no idea how many people you changed just by being in a room.
Eleanor was my neighbor for 30 years. She once brought me soup without being asked. I never forgot it.
She taught me that kindness is never wasted. I was her student in 1968 and she remembered my name 30 years later.
