The honest answer is that no single company can promise to exist forever. What we can do — and what we've built from the ground up — is make sure your story is never dependent on us alone to survive.

Your memorial is stored in open, readable formats. HTML — the language of the internet itself — has been readable by every browser since 1993. Your photos and videos are stored on AWS S3, the same infrastructure that powers the internet's most essential services. Your words are in a standard database that any system in the world can read. Nothing we've built is proprietary or locked into technology that could become obsolete.

Every plot purchase contributes to a Perpetual Care Fund. Just as cemeteries have maintained endowments for 200 years to care for resting places long after the original purchase, a portion of every Grandma Bobbie plot goes into a fund dedicated to covering hosting costs indefinitely — not reliant on new sales to keep existing memorials alive.

We've made a legal commitment. If Grandma Bobbie ever ceases operations — for any reason — your memorial will not disappear. It will be transferred to a designated successor platform or archived in a publicly accessible digital library. This obligation is written into our Terms of Service and will survive any change in ownership.

And then there's the simplest truth: the internet doesn't forget. The words Eleanor wrote about how she laughed and how freely she loved exist now in more places than any single server. Once a story lives on the internet, it has a way of persisting beyond the platform that hosted it.

We built Grandma Bobbie the same way the great libraries were built — with permanence as the first principle, not an afterthought.
